Umbra
Watch face · eight data fields, three designs
Stock faces mostly let you swap data fields and colour. Umbra adds three backgrounds, two layouts and four typefaces, switched right on the watch, plus eight data fields with 18 metrics. Free for 48 round AMOLED Garmins.
Umbra has been in the store since 30 July 2026, 14 updates later. The second watch face is analog, in the design phase, and will be paid.
A digital watch face on a near-black background. Design, background, colour, layout and typeface are set on the watch; the eight data fields are assigned in the Garmin Connect app.

Eclipse with blue, relief with lime and a larger time, night with violet. Under Custom you set background, colour and layout separately.
Blue, violet or lime colour the arc, the labels and the background tone together.
Four compact fields above the time, four larger ones below, each can be switched off. Among them heart rate, stress, Body Battery, cycling VO2 max and weekly distance from Garmin Connect, which counts activities from other devices too.
Time, values and date switch together: Saira Condensed, the lighter Saira Condensed Light, the heavier Anton and the narrow Saira ExtraCondensed.
Large, white on black and shifted slightly every minute to protect the display. Raise your wrist and the full layout is back.
Own graphics for 390, 416, 454 and 466 pixels: Forerunner, Venu, vívoactive, fēnix, epix, MARQ, Descent, Instinct, D2 and Approach. Watches with MIP displays are not supported.
glyphlabs is an independent studio in Switzerland. Umbra is the first app, Analog is next.
Backgrounds and typefaces are made for each of the four resolutions, not scaled. Testing happens on the wrist on a Forerunner 570, the other sizes run in Garmin's simulator. If a face lights up too much of the display in always-on, the watch turns it off, so every view is measured against that limit per resolution. How the rule works.
No account, and nothing about you sits with glyphlabs: heart rate, stress and Body Battery are read by the watch and shown there. From version 1.3.0 Umbra reports installs and active watches, and we keep only counts per day. Settings from the Connect app are stored by Garmin in your Garmin account. Updates keep your settings. Umbra is free, with no trial and no unlock code.
